Fun Hairstyles for Toddlers

Hairstyles for Toddlers

Not all hairstyles can work on toddlers thanks to their fine hair, and lack of hair! I can’t tell you how many times I tried elaborate hairstyles, only to watch my daughter rip out all of my hard work in an instant! If you’ve ever relented to just letting your toddler go out with bed head, this article is for you!

Toddler Hair is Challenging

This is the statement you need to repeat over and over! Toddler hair is challenging, but not impossible! Here’s the good news, we don’t expect anyone to become a beautician overnight and know how to create elaborate hairstyles! Toddler hair is harder simply due to how little hair you have to work with. Braids are adorable, but not all toddlers have enough hair to do a braid. So what can you do? Here are some of our favorites toddler hairstyles to try out:

French Braid

Some toddlers have enough hair to do some adorable French braids. We love the small French brain over the front of the scalp. This hairstyle helps to smooth out some of the small, whispy hairs that never seem to grow! Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do a great French braid.

Elastic Braid Pigtails

Do you have a toddler who refuses to sit still? I do! My daughter won’t last for more than a minute as I try to make up fun hairstyles. So my go-to fast hairstyle are the elastic braid pigtails. Check out this great video to help you see how to create the braids on your child.

Ballerina Buns

Do you have a child that loves dressing up as their favorite princess? The bun is one of the most recognizable elements of a princess look, so this is a hairstyle that will be popular! You can buy a hair doughnut to make the ballerina bun look cleaner, or you can use this awesome sock trick!

Ponytail

You can’t go wrong with a classic look! The ponytail is one of the most popular hairstyles for kids. Ponytails move their growing hair from getting dirty during meal team, and it’s an easy way to dress them up quickly. The hair scrunchie is one of our go-to fashion accessories for the ponytail days!

Hats and Beanies

Alright, there are days when you just can’t get that toddler hair to do what you want. If you’ve spent a ton of time making cute braids, but your toddler has been screaming the entire time, you’re probably wondering if it’s even worth doing their hair! Hey, we have all been there! That’s why hats and beanies are always a great fashion choice for toddlers. Winter months make it easy to pair up hats to keep them warmer, but have a cool stylish edge.
